Meeting Minutes from February 2002 Meeting

The Penn-Jersey Saltwater Anglers Club held its first official meeting on Sunday, February 24th. Our first meeting was intended to provide a forum for the core group of 5 anglers who participated to build the concept for what this club will become and how we cultivate the organic growth necessary to make that happen.

Several key decisions were made including:

  1. The focus of the club is to be for anglers who live in the Delaware Valley area including Western New Jersey and Southeastern Pennsylvania, as well as for more distant anglers who are interested in attending PJSA meetings (which will be held in the Delaware Valley area).

  2. Our stated goal is to provide value to anglers that are boat fishermen who primarily fish the inshore and offshore ocean waters. Key interest areas from the founding members include wreck fishing and canyon/offshore fishing.

  3. At this time we won't be recruiting members that have diverse interests outside of these basic objectives.

The decision was made to first establish a marketing vehicle (which you are currently looking at), then to run a series of advertisements in The Fisherman to announce our formation, and to direct interested anglers to our Web site. Al Gillen volunteered to build the first iteration of the PJSA Web site.

Our goal is to produce the Web site by late March and move forward with the advertising phase in April. We also planned a follow-up combination meeting/fishing trip for April.
