We continue our 2003 meeting schedule with second major event. Our next meeting, scheduled for Saturday, March 1 from 1:30-4:00 p.m., will feature a presentation by John Raguso.
Well known in the mid-Atlantic region, John was the author that broke the techniques of wreck fishing wide open when he published the Atlantic Wreck Series of articles in The Fisherman magazine during 1988. John has become one of the real fixtures in fishing community. That series, that later was republished in book form, remains one of the required pieces of reading for anglers interested in becoming better wreck fishermen.
Today, John is perhaps best known as the Boating and Electronics Editor for The Fisherman magazine, but also is a contributor to publications such as Len Belcaro's Big Game Fishing Journal, as well as to Boating, BoatTest.com, and Sport Fishing magazines.
Raguso charters his twin outboard-powered 27-foot Phoenix for wreck fishing, sharking and offshore/canyon out of Moriches, Long Island.
John will present an in-depth show on advanced wreck fishing techniques including topics such as understanding the life cycle of a wreck, different techniques to fish wrecks for both bottom fish and for pelagic visitors, and will cover finding and fishing deep water wrecks.

On April 6...
Next on our agenda, as a follow-up to our popular September offshore rigging presentation, we'll have an afternoon of hands-on rigging. PJSA will supply basic rigging supplies (leader, crimps, chafe gear, etc.) as part of the event at no cost to members. In addition, we'll also be offering a number of lure designs that you'll be able to purchase and rig. This is a great opportunity to tap the expertise of your fellow members to borrow concepts and rigging techniques that put fish in the box for them, including bait rigs for chunking and trolling. This will also be an excellent opportunity to upgrade existing lures that need re-rigging. Stay tuned for more information regarding what supplies will be needed for this event.
